Retired Dogs

At Glasybont gundogs, we pride ourselves on giving our dogs a full and enriched life from birth to end of life. For most of our dogs this means a retirement living with the family and working days in the field whilst they still enjoy it and are able to.

We occasionally are able to support our retired dogs to joining families who are looking for a companion that is also in the later stages of their life. This is typically from six years of age and so they can expect to spend a good further six years in their new homes. To be considered for one of our retired dogs, please get in contact. We typically are looking for families that are in also in a stable later stage of life that can give our dogs a relaxed and fulfilled retirement.

Gin

Gin is a third generation Glasybont gundog bred for our own Dove and Wigeon. Gin retired in late 2023 at the age of five from our breeding program. When a lovely family approached us to join our waiting list for a puppy, we invited them to come and visit us. On the day of the visit the family was joined by their mother who was retired but also looking for a canine companion. Gin and Chrissy got on so well that we arranged for us to take Gin to visit Chrissy at her home in the Cotswolds so we could see the home she could possibly retire into. Gin and Chrissy spent the afternoon in the garden and we were so happy that the following week after Gin had her final vet check she joined Chrissy. You can see in the photos that Gin has found Crissy and they are enjoying life together. Gin will keep in touch with us and as with all our retired dogs, will come back to us if there is a life changing event in their new homes.
